Why ecological grief?
Now more than ever, we recognise the need to gather as a global community and process our collective grief over ecological devastation around the world. Forest fires, floods, the ocean on fire; we cannot let these moments wash over us, and become normalised to a point where we no longer question them.
The despair at world leaders at COP26 was partly countered by the momental joy erupting in the streets of Glasgow, outside the blue zone of the conference. Environment and social justice is at the heart of our work at Global Diversity Foundation and we believe it is essential to keep recreating these moments of joy in response to ecological grief. We know the sense of ecological grief and anxiety all too well; It’s experienced by every being in every ocean, forest, river, mountain, and affects every member of our 600 strong network of environmental change makers all over the world.
Facilitated by Serah Daisy
Serah Daisy will facilitate the group with a meditation, stories and sensation session. Serah-daisy is a cross-dimensional artist, an independent scholar and a spirit led healing practitioner. They are black, queer, disabled and tired of colonial dominance ruling our collective imaginations, possibilities and lives. They are a shapeshifter, & a time traveller who utilises different modalities of healing and liberation practices to create, channel and transmute what they can and what they must on this plain.
Serah Daisy will guide us through a stories and sensation session that will invite people to sit with their own positionality and understandings of ecological grief. By tethering to our own personal histories, feelings, and somatic experiences, we will create a container that weaves honest and connective threads to support and give space for exploration, feeling and listening.
Please consider the following: We are not therapists or able to take the role of therapist. We will be holding a compassionate, brave space to engage in practices that may move you but we are unable to take responsibility for anyone’s healing process or mental health. We will be providing embodied support tools to help regulate the nervous system and create supportive resources to ground us. We ask you to consider if you have the emotional and mental capacity to engage, which may bring up complex feelings.
