As Communications Coordinator of the Global Environments Network (GEN), Marina Aman Sham supports efforts to promote engagement among GEN members and increase the visibility of the network through communications. Marina is an ethnic Kadazan from Sabah, Malaysia.
After receiving her Diploma in Hotel Management from Les Roches, Switzerland in 1997, Marina Aman Sham ventured into hotel and tourism management within two protected site in Kenya, Tsavo East National Park and Shompole Conservancy, exposing her to wildlife and community-conservation initiatives. In 2002, she returned to Sabah, where she worked with local communities on rural women entrepreneurship. Marina went on to graduate with a Marketing and Public Relations Degree from Curtin University, Western Australia and since then, she has worked on communications, education, research and management projects with local and international nonprofit organisations.
